Since The Lamar High School Alumni Association, Inc. received its Certificate of Incorporation from the State of Texas effective July 9, 1998 and received its IRS approval as an authorized 501 (c) (3) organization it has been able to provide achievements/gifts to the Lamar School from several sources of income to include:   Alumni Dues, Donations, and proceeds from various Events and Fundraisers. The following are some of those Events and Fundraisers (as well as interesting HOMEPAGES).

THIS fall, Lamar High School celebrated its 70th anniversary. The school in conjunction with the alumni association has planned several events during the year to mark this milestone.   • HSPVA will dedicate a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, featuring student, faculty, and alumni performers, to her memory. The concert will be held Saturday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Moores Opera House on the University of Houston campus.

    July 11th, 2007, Wednesday, check for $390,000 issued to purchase auditorium chairs. Second element of auditorium renovation begins.
    May 4th, 2007, Friday, (note NEW date) April 19, 2007 Distinguished Alumni Luncheon at the River Oaks Country Club. TIME: 11am, COST (to be determined).
    Honoring the following Alumni:
    Lauren Anderson, Class of 1982 - recently retired Principal Dancer for the Houston
    Ballet.
    Randy House, Class of 1963 - THREE star General, U.S. Army (retired).
    Eugenie Kamrath Mygdal, Class of 1957 - is a sculptor and has many pieces in
    Texas.
    J Doug Pitcock, Jr., Class of 1945 - is the CEO/Chairman of Williams Brothers
    Construction Company. They have built many of the freeways in Houston, Loop 610, 288, Southwest Freeway, and are in the midst of redoing I-10.
    Bill Poland, Class of 1963 - is a real estate developer in San Francisco.

                and the Second two Scholarships Awarded at the Luncheon
            August 2005, HOMEPAGE - "InTown" Magazine's cover, titled:
                Lamar's Alumni Director leads "Mission Possible"
            October 21st, 2006 - 3rd Annual Big Red FUN Run, Sat. @ 7:00a.m.
            November 29th @ 11:00am Groundbreaking for Construction of New $150,000
                Sports Building (at the rear of the school) First new building on campus in 20 years.

    EVENTS FOR 1997 Pre present Alumni Association
            November 8, 1997 60th Reunion Anniversary Celebration and Dedication of the
                New Flagpole Plaza

    EVENTS FOR 1987 Pre present Alumni Association
            October 17, 1987 50th Reunion Anniversary for the school (founded in 1936).
                This 50th Anniversary event was put on by many Volunteer Alumni and Parents
                (and others) before the present Alumni Association was founded. The
                remaining Funds from the event were used to create the “Friends of Lamar Foundation”             organization which is now working in concert with the Alumni Association.
