LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL TODAY!!! - Just as in previous years, Lamar High School continues to offer many wonderful opportunities for it's students.  

1.  Serves 3,200 students in grades 9-12, including those with special needs.

2.  Has achieved Recognized Status from the TEA - the only comprehensive high school in HISD to do so - and is only a few students short of Exemplary Status.

3.  Is an International Baccalaureate school and has presented between 90 and 100 IB Diploma each year.  An IB Diploma is now worth 24-40 huors of college credit at all state universities in Texas.  

4.  Fields teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, water polo, and wrestling.

5.  Offers Fine Arts training in ballet, band, choir, film-making, hip-hop, music theory, music history, orchestra and theater.

6.  Offers French, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and Russian language training.

7.  Has SAT and ACT scores above the national and state averages.

8.  Has over 90 clubs and organizations including AFS, Amnesty International, Christian Student Union, Computer Science Club, FFA, JROTC, Student Council, NHS, Photography, Ping-Pong, Quill & Scroll, Robotics, Young Democrats and Young Republicans.

9.  Sends its graduates to Baylor, Georgetown, HBU, Harvard, Military Academies, Notre Dame, SMU, Stanford, Texas A&M, U of Houston, UT and Yaleand many others.  Graduates receive millions of dollars in scholarship funds from these schools.

10.  Offers a safe, caring atmosphere with rigorous educational standards.
